Medialis was founded in 1994 by Jochen Schaefer, Michael Schäfer, Jürgen Lucka and Walter Fromm in Berlin-Treptow – a lithographer, a business economist and two process engineers. This unusual merger laid the foundation for the holistic philosophy of Medialis.
Philosophy in 3D
The Medialis-concept has three dimensions: Good printing takes the individual wishes of customers seriously. Good printing uses innovative and economical processes. Good printing creates creatively and technically outstanding products.
So far the theory … but it should succeed. Medialis started with 5 people. After only one and a half years there were already fourteen. In 2015 the company already had 26 permanent employees. Again and again the company has been rebuilt, expanded and invested in order to introduce new product ideas, new technologies and new sales concepts.
Gold in series
With its clearly quality-oriented approach, Medialis quickly established itself in the magazine, book and catalog sectors, focusing on art, photography and architecture.
In 2004 and 2005 Medialis received the gold award at the European Sappi Award, in 2006 the silver award in the magazine category. In 2005 we were additionally awarded with gold and as “International Printer Of The Year“ in Shanghai (elephant statue) … as one of the best printers worldwide. The German Book Art Foundation honored Medialis in 2006, 2007 and 2012 in the competition “The most beautiful books in Germany“. The magazine „Der Wedding“ printed by us also received the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in silver in 2012.
